Right now there are many different types of kick drum samples out there, delivered in programs like Reason and FL Studio and also ones that can be downloaded via the internet. Because the kick drum is such an essential part of every genre from dance to rhythm and blues to hip hop, having a diverse selection to pick from is really a requirement if you never want the sound selection to sap your creativity.

A kick drum has a few different phases, like any sound wave. First we have the start or the attack, and this is really what cuts through any mix. If you can get a kick to have a sharp attack, it will be able to be heard through any number of surrounding and opposing layers of different sounds. An attack that does not have such a strong starting point will need to have two strong elements that follow – so it’s necessary to really be careful about picking them. The starting phase can be augmented with other samples.

The sustained kick, which pertains to the second phase of the audio sample, is the sound that stays with you the longest, much more memorable than the initial attack. If you have a great attack, you can afford to have a weak mid-sound (or sustained sound), because we have heard that the kick is there, but it can’t be both at the same time; if the attack is weak and there is no sustained sound, you don’t have a kick, you have a melon.

If you want to adjust your kick’s volume in proportion to the other drum samples, there are hundreds of ways available to you. Your main sequencer program probably has a few different places with volume controls, and even if it doesn’t you can just as easily download a free plugin or program to help you achieve this goal. Most drum machines and software on Macs and PCs offers easy volume manipulation on both the main mixers and the additional nested devices, so check them out and read your manual.

If you don’t want to use a volume envelope or volume filter to adjust the volume, there are other programs that can help you crop and tighten a drum sample. An audio editor would be a good start, as the cropping feature in most of these is truly excellent and requires little pre-developed knowledge in audio. Simply crop and then fade out the last few seconds, and you will have an adjusted sample with the volume you want.

Lastly, you should know that different programs include different drum samples. The libraries that ship with Reason and FL Studio, for example, are vastly different. They are both good, but if you find yourself making beats with the same drum samples over and over, look for some expansion packs or third party sounds to expand your choice, or modify the samples yourself if you have the time and skill.

Everyone is aging but in today’s society, many countries are approaching a point where people over the age of sixty will outnumber the younger generations. This is because better health care is helping people live longer, more productive lives. Getting the right kind of aging care is important if you want to keep enjoying a good quality of life.

You need to understand that there are different options that may suit some people better than others. Specific health problems may require specialised care especially in the later stages of some diseases. Conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s may mean that customized health care approaches are necessary.

There are different levels of care that aging adults may want to explore. If you are in reasonably good health but need help with some chores and tasks, you may want to consider having a housekeeper or cook come into your home. There are companies which offer support staff in order to allow people to remain in their homes as they age. This can give seniors a great feeling of independence and pride.

Once you are in a position where you are no longer willing or able to live in your home, consider moving into an assisted living facility. These allow you to have your own private room but you have the security of round the clock emergency monitoring. Depending on the facility you are living in, there are usually meals served in a communal dining room, and housekeeping services to keep your room or apartment clean and in good condition. These facilities also usually offer organized activities such as shopping trips, movies and other fun things to do. This keeps your mind and body active.

The next step in aging care is normally a nursing home. This is often reserved for people who are physically unable to care for themselves. You will often live in a ward, although some facilities do have private or semi-private rooms. The facilities are often set up more like a hospital than an apartment complex. They normally have ways of handling people with diseases like Alzheimer’s or dementia, since these individuals like to wander and may need watching and extra security measures.

Once aging has reached a very advanced stage, you may need to use palliative care to provide you with personal care until you pass on. This can be a hard decision to make especially since it is normally being made on behalf of a loved one, instead of by the loved one themselves.

Aging care is rapidly becoming a growth industry. People are requiring more care for longer periods of time and the different levels of physical needs has caused people to need specialized aging care. Knowing what stage you or a family member has reached is the key to getting the care you, or they, need.

Many people think everybody has a preset fat point. This means at some stage the body reaches a predetermined optimal fat level. This idea has been followed for a long time but is in fact wrong.

We all develop our own fat point based on our lifestyles.

Your genes will dictate the shape of your body, for example your height, your shoulder width and your leg length. But they will not dictate how much fat your body packs on. This is not hereditary, it comes from the lifestyle you have adopted and the foods you have eaten since you were born.

For those of you who have been overweight for an extended period and have kept a constant percentage of fat, this will be your fat point. It will alter in direct response to the kind of lifestyle you lead everyday.

Remaining at a steady fat point for a number of years will see your body adjust accordingly. It will attempt to maintain a workable equilibrium and will develop the right amount of muscle tissues and capillaries. It will also adjust hormone levels.

You see, you are the one who sets the fat point and your body is just doing what it can to keep things in balance.

Now your body will always be monitoring that fat point. Perhaps you decide to go on a crash diet course. Your body will see this as an attack on the nice status quo it has developed and it will try to correct the situation. Very often the body burns lean muscle to keep fat.

Still many people prefer to believe that their weight problems are the result of genetics. For them it becomes easier when they feel the situation is beyond their control.

In reality, anyone can change their fat point through slow and steady adjustment of their lifestyle. Increase you metabolism and build muscle. Adjusting your diet and taking regular exercise will always result in a lower fat point.
